About Feco Hamburger

Feco Hamburger was born in 1970 in São Paulo, where he lives and works.

Artist, photographer and teacher with a growing interest in hybrid media, he develops works in which the sense of experience is articulated over the process and end product.

His work in the field of art weaves a visible relationship with the nature of things and with the contradictory, exploring the perception of time, the porosities of encountering the other, and how the object is transformed by the eye. Photography,  installations and performances are key in his production.

He studied Physics at University of Campinas and Linguistics at University of São Paulo. He developed an interest in photography at Laboratorio Fotográfico São Paulo, where he specialized in fine-art printing. He worked as photographic assistant to Bob Wolfenson for 4 years, during which time he opened his own studio, working as an artist  and commissioned photographer.

His work has been exhibited at the São Paulo State Pinacoteca, at the Museu de Arte Moderna and the Paço Imperial, in Rio de Janeiro. He has works in the São Paulo State Pinacoteca collection and the Itaú Collection of Brazilian Photography. He has been awarded the Prêmio Abril Journalism prize for best photographic essay and was honored with a special mention at the Prêmio Brasil Photography Awards.

He administers courses and workshops because he believes in the need to share knowledge.

Janaina Torres Gallery represents his artwork.
